In the latest installment of NextGen to Watch, we’re showcasing Christine Rice. The New York City-native is a marketing manager at Direct Agents, MBA candidate at Hofstra University, and director of marketing and social media at ALPFA New York.
Who inspired you the most in your life growing up?
My mom.
Whose career really inspires you?
Eva Longoria.
What lesson did you learn early in your career that still serves you today?
Early on in my career, I learned that it is so important to create a list every week of all the tasks that you accomplish, along with the impact of those tasks. This helps you for prepare for year-end evaluations, as well as create bullet points for your résumé, and networking talking points.
Also, it is so important to join the employee resource group (ERG) at your organization and/or a local affinity organization to help you create a network, meet people who have a shared experience, and make friends.
What is one nonwork-related goal that you would like to achieve in the next five years?
Become fluent in a third language.
What behavior or personality traits do you attribute to your success?
Adaptability, communication, and kindness.
Which causes are you passionate about?
I am very passionate about first-generation college students and diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI).
What’s one thing we’d never be able to guess from your LinkedIn profile?
I have read over three hundred books in my life.
