30 Under 30: Laura Alvarado

Laura Alvarado serves as an associate on the global investment research (GIR) team at Goldman Sachs. She works closely with GIR leadership to define and execute divisional leadership priorities and manage and develop the people of the division. She also partners with leaders on Goldman’s diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts as part of the GIR Inclusion and Diversity Council.

Alvarado says her biggest accomplishment might seem small: promoting connectivity. “The day-to-day experience is a huge component of whether people enjoy their role,” the associate says. “[Through] division-wide initiatives that randomly match colleagues to connect, a revamp of our integration processes, and helping grow the Dallas office while maintaining our culture, I’ve seen how far our people have come.”

The associate also sits on the Dallas Hispanic/Latinx Network steering committee. Most recently, the group hosted a volunteer event to write cards for teachers and students affected by the Uvalde school shooting.

When asked where she hopes to be by 2030, Alvarado says she hopes to be leading the charge on fostering inclusivity and solving problems, along with simply being happy. “I’ve always liked variety in my day-to-day and hope to continue to be able to collaborate with people while innovating and thinking strategically,” Alvarado says.
