The Talent Generator

Elizabeth Muñoz Rodriguez

Born and raised in the northwest suburbs of Chicago, 30-year-old Elizabeth Muñoz Rodriguez and her sisters where taught to always work hard, pursue their dreams, and be proud of their Mexican heritage. Rodriguez took this advice to heart, graduating magna cum laude from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and, last year, obtaining her MBA at Cornell University. Now, as senior human capital consultant for Deloitte, she’s setting her sights even higher. “Through my work in the talent field, I hope to help change the face of business leaders of the future to better reflect the diverse face of America today,” she says.

Industry Pulse

The HR profession is emerging from having a “seat at the table,” to having a “strategic seat at the table.” As our economy continues to recover, we need HR business partners who are able to lead organizations through change, to retain key talent and tie human-capital implications to business impact.

Role models

My sisters are my role models. My older sister has four kids, four dogs, works a full-time job, and she manages to make it to every football game and cheerleading meet her kids have. She is my rock who never ceases to remind me to call home and to make time for the family. My little sister sees beauty in everything. She inspires me to be creative and to live life to the fullest.

Dream job

My passion has always been people and problem solving. I am driving towards truly living my passion through my work, and once I accomplish that, I know I will have my dream job.

Define Success

Success is when you’ve managed to live your passion every day and never think of work as “work.”
