NextGen Collective spotlights fashion and personal branding photographer Rocio D’Oleo. Read on about her work, who inspires her, and more.
Where are you from?
The beautiful island of the Dominican Republic.
What do you do today?
I’m a published fashion and personal branding photographer. Also, I recently launched my agency focused on serving content creators in their search for brands to collaborate with. I also sell modest swimwear for the Christian and conservative woman.
Whose career really inspires you?
Nicole Hill (photographer), Lindsay Adler (photographer) Lara Jade (photographer) and Alex Beadon (marketer).
What lesson did you learn early in your career that still serves you today?
Perseverance/discipline is key if you want to make your dreams come true.
What are some of the biggest challenges you see for Latino professionals early in their careers?
Usually other people see Latinos as lazy when we’re the complete opposite. Most of us are very hard working and goal oriented.
What is part of your daily routine that you look forward to every day?
Spending some time with the Lord.
When you get a new idea what’s the first thing you do with it?
I write it down before I forget it. Sometimes ideas come to me when I’m in the shower, so I always keep my phone close.
What is one non-work related goal that you would like to achieve in the next five years?
Travel to Italy.
What’s one thing we’d never be able to guess from your LinkedIn profile?
That I love rescuing animals and giving them a better life. I’ve done that with four cats now.
Your theme song.
