Hispanic-Serving Institutions (HSIs) play a crucial role in higher education by catering to the educational needs of Hispanic students in the United States. Defined by the Higher Education Act as degree-granting institutions with a Hispanic undergraduate enrollment of at least 25 percent, HSIs are pivotal in promoting academic success and social mobility within the Hispanic community.
According to 2022-2023 IPEDS Data, there were six hundred HSIs across the country as of 2022, collectively enrolling 66.2 percent of all Hispanic undergraduate students and 31.7 percent of all undergraduate students in nonprofit postsecondary education.
The Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities analyzed the IPEDS data to list all six hundred schools, which include two-year public and private and four-year public and private schools.
We selected the ten largest four-year HSIs that boast a student body of more than ten thousand where at least 50 percent of the undergraduate headcount is Hispanic.
