Raul Bustillos, a Mexican American born in El Paso and raised between Juárez and the US, is an account development representative at PwC. In his role, he helps clients navigate challenges in digital transformation and risk management by building strategic relationships and connecting them with the right solutions. What is your greatest career accomplishment to date?
Choosing a single accomplishment is tough because so many experiences have contributed to my success at PwC. Early on, I realized that meeting client needs wasn’t just about selling, it was about building the right team. I revamped our Professional Selling campus recruiting program to identify and recruit high potential reps. Within six months, our interns and campus new hires were exceeding goal, which more than doubled our ability to scale in the market.
That achievement means more to me than any individual award (Inside Sales Rep of the Year 2022; Most Revenue Booked 2022 & 2023; Account Executive of the Year 2024) because it will drive PwC’s growth long after any single rep is gone, including me.
What is your greatest personal accomplishment to date?
Accomplishments are typically defined as significant moments in a person’s life where they have achieved, initiated, or won something. My greatest accomplishment is setting in motion positive changes in the lives of hundreds of people by sharing the faith that saved me when I was at the end of my rope. In a life where I felt empty, hurt, and lonely, I found my faith in Jesus, which has transformed how I live my life. It is the core of my values, and I now travel the world spreading the message that there is hope for everyone.
What do you do today to impact your community?
I’m all about bringing people together, stepping in where help is needed, and empowering others wherever I go:
Building Belonging: I know firsthand how life‑changing it is to belong, so I launched The Table at PowerHouse Church in Katy, TX. I noticed so many young adults craving real connection. Every Tuesday, we pull together 16 local churches for a night of music, stories, and genuine community. What started as a small meetup has become a safe space for hundreds to grow, share, and feel seen.
Serving Neighbors in Need: Each month I co‑lead a food drive that collects and delivers over 20,000 lbs of groceries to families in need. For me, feeding people isn’t just about filling plates, it’s about honoring their dignity and giving them room to chase bigger dreams.
Inspiring Across Borders: I’ve had the privilege of speaking to thousands in India, Mexico, Peru, Trinidad & Tobago, Sri Lanka, and across the U.S. Sharing messages of hope, purpose, and practical leadership reminds me that community isn’t limited by geography and equipping one person can spark positive change everywhere.
Where do you see yourself in five years?
In five years, I see myself in a PwC Director role, leading an awesome team rolling out cutting‑edge solutions and driving growth for our biggest clients. I plan to continue to crush my business goals, while being known at the one who lifts people up, mentoring the next wave of reps and shaping a culture built on integrity, service, and teamwork. Outside work, I’ll still be living out my faith through community and volunteer projects, bringing that same compassion and purpose into every client chat and team conversation.
What is the biggest issue that you want to help solve, and why?
As a young, Latino professional, I’m most fired up drawing on my cultures emphasis on community to tackle the loneliness and disconnection so many face today. I focus on three simple things: one‑on‑one mentoring, inclusive gatherings, and stepping in when someone’s in crisis. Every life deserves to be seen and supported, and when we show up with a little compassion, we can change someone’s path for good.
What is a moment when you realized the impact of your work?
As a PwC account development representative, there’s nothing more fulfilling than receiving a call from a client who is completely satisfied with our technology or service. One client once told me that the efficiencies we provided gave her back so much time that she could be more present in her family’s life outside of work. That’s impact. I’ve also witnessed families in need of food find hope, one box at a time. The Table, which operates on a weekly basis, gives people a place to belong, where they find hope and healing.
What advice would 10-year-old you be shocked to hear you followed?
My 10‑year‑old self would be floored to know that I actually believe God’s in control and my older self has stopped trying to map out and control every detail of my life. Instead, I focus on doing my best with what’s right in front of me, trusting that He’ll handle the rest.
What’s a cultural tradition that always brings you joy?
Noche Buena is celebrated on the night before Christmas in Mexico as a tradition marking the eve of Jesus’s birth. It’s a time when family members from around the world come together for a large potluck gathering. During this celebration, we sing worship songs and pray together.
What song do you listen to that motivates you?
“Counting My Blessings” by Seph Schlueter is a song that reminds me of the source of my strength and provision. Whenever I feel out of balance or need to return to a state of gratitude, it’s the perfect song to listen to.
