The way Tatiana Rivera sees it, benefits like paid time off and leave are essential to solving many of the economic and social equity issues that women and marginalized communities face today. She would know: Rivera is an expert on absence management and was promoted several times within five years at the management consulting firm Mercer. She is now a senior absence management consultant at Pacific Resources, an employee benefits advisory firm. When Rivera applied for her current role she didn’t have the required years of experience; she not only got the job but also successfully negotiated a salary significantly higher than her last one.
Outside of work, she’s always looking for ways to help the Denver community. Among other volunteer and mentorship activities, she serves as a mentor to a young teenage Latina through a local organization called Denver Kids. Her future goals include becoming a leading expert on paid leave and time off, continuing to serve her community, and becoming a motivational speaker.
