Jeffrey Herrera considered going to medical school, but in his senior year at Boston University, he chose a path that would allow him to make positive change in a different way. Today, he is the programs manager for diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) at the biotechnology company Biogen.
In his role, Herrera supports internal employee resource networks and leads sponsorship efforts with local and regional partners like the Human Rights Campaign and the Greater Boston PFLAG.
Though the COVID-19 pandemic put a halt to some of his volunteer work, he has still managed to volunteer through Biogen’s Community Lab, which allows underserved students to do science experiments and learn about STEM careers. His future goals include building his leadership abilities in the DEI space and pursuing a career in public policy and government affairs.
