What is your greatest career accomplishment to date?
My greatest career accomplishment to date has been contributing to the State of Illinois’s Generative AI and Natural Language Processing Task Force, which produced the first in-depth state analysis of AI’s far-reaching impacts. As part of the task force, I helped craft recommendations presented to the governor that addressed AI’s effects on civil rights, education, labor, consumer protections, the environment, and cybersecurity.
This landmark report served as a call to action and a roadmap—emphasizing the importance of fostering innovation while safeguarding privacy, equity, and public trust. Being part of a collaborative effort that will help shape AI policy for Illinois was a defining moment in my career, as it allowed me to directly influence how Artificial Intelligence is adopted in ways that protect communities and ensure its benefits are shared with all Illinois residents.
What is your greatest personal accomplishment to date?
My greatest personal accomplishment to date has been reaching a point in my career where I can financially support my family while also achieving one of my lifelong goals of purchasing my first building. This milestone represents not only financial independence but also the resilience, hard work, and determination it took to build a stable foundation for both my loved ones and my future.
What do you do today to impact your community?
Today, I serve as a board member of the Latinas in Tech Chicago Chapter and cochair of the Hispanic Latino Network at NVIDIA. In these roles, I lead initiatives and events that create community, foster professional growth, and celebrate our culture. Through networking socials, skill-building workshops, and cultural programming, I aim to provide spaces where Latinas and Hispanic professionals feel empowered, supported, and connected.
I do this work because I believe in the power of representation, mentorship, and access to resources. Throughout my career I have had leaders and mentors that have helped me grow as a leader and tech professional and my goal is to pay it forward by helping others see themselves reflected in leadership roles, expand their networks, and thrive in the tech industry.
Where do you see yourself in five years?
In five years, I see myself starting my own family while continuing to grow as a leader in the tech industry. Professionally, I aim to be a pivotal voice in the development and adoption of AI and emerging technologies, ensuring they are implemented in ways that drive innovation, inclusion, and meaningful impact to all communities.
What is the biggest issue that you want to help solve, and why?
As a leader in the tech space, I care deeply about supporting its growth in a way that benefits communities everywhere. I want to help solve the challenge of ensuring AI can be leveraged to drive new discoveries and advance what is humanly possible—while doing so sustainably. This means prioritizing renewable energy in AI infrastructure and ensuring that access to emerging technologies is equitable for the next generation.
What is a moment when you realized the impact of your work?
One moment that made me realize the impact of my work was when I created a working group of Latino professionals to help organize company events for the Latin American community, which eventually formalized into the board of our Latino employee resource group. Hearing one of the members share that they see me as both a mentor and an older sister made me realize that this work goes far beyond events—it builds friendships and support systems that allows our community to feel empowered in their personal and career journeys.
What advice would 10-year-old you be shocked to hear you followed?
Whenever you feel challenged and sense doubt of what you are capable of delivering—it is at that moment you are growing, learning and becoming a new more powerful person of yourself.
What’s a cultural tradition that always brings you joy?
One of my favorite cultural traditions is celebrating Peruvian Independence Day, singing to folklore music, dancing to marinera and huaynos, eating Peruvian cuisine but most importantly spending time with friends and family.
What song do you listen to that motivates you?
Eladio Carrion: Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 40 by Bizarrap & Eladio Carrión
