Real estate feels like a sport to Junior Torres, and it’s a sport he wants to dominate. The Windermere Real Estate broker has been serving the Seattle area since 2005, and he just keeps getting better. In his own words, he’s not here just to play; he’s here to be the best.

“I think that probably stems from my family’s humble beginnings and wanting to be better at what I do,” Torres says. “I’ve always been hungry, and I’m never satisfied, in a healthy way, I think.”

Torres spoke at AVANCE Global’s summit at the Bellagio in Las Vegas, but he said he was sticking around for the sense of family he’s found over the last two years. The real estate expert said the transparency and openness make the conference one of a kind.

“It’s really more of a sense of ‘we’re all here and in this together, and we want to support each other,” Torres explains. “It’s a great feeling, and I like to always bring that back to my team. I wish I could bring my whole team.”

Torres says he wants to be as involved with his community as he possibly can while continuing to grow as a person. He’s proven to himself that he’s great at what he does; now he wants to share what he’s learned and help influence the next generation.

Along with his day-to-day work, Torres sits on the boards of Mercy Housing Northwest and Cristo Rey Jesuit Seattle High School, which combines college-preparatory classes with paid professional work experience for students. Its Corporate Work Study program, which sees students working at a Seattle-area business or nonprofit on a rotating schedule five days a month, drew Torres to the school.

Through that involvement, he’s able to speak with the next generation of potential real estate professionals. Torres says he is often asked how to be the best in the field.

“Being at the top generally means you have to get up at five in the morning and work until ten at night, sometimes seven days a week; that’s part of it,” he says. “We work really hard.”
