Who is your favorite athlete or sports hero?
Julio César Chávez, one of the greatest fighters in the history of boxing. Growing up, it was always great to hear the commentators talk about the “Mexican Style of Boxing” and how Chávez was its face for so long. The grit and toughness he displayed in every fight was always inspiring.
What advice would you give to young Latinos who want to break into the business of sports?
Be persistent. Sports is a highly desired field where hundreds of people apply to every position posted. You have to be consistent and relentless when searching for a job. You also need to grow your network with other sports business professionals to increase your chances of landing your dream job. I would recommend reaching out to people in your desired field (marketing, sales, operations, etc.) and to ask them for an informational interview.
